Spring Fashion Dress to kill

The fashion world certainly moves fast. The general public are hardly out of their gloves, scarves and thermal all-in-one body stockings, when the beauty and fashion editors are extolling the virtues of beachwear and little dresses for the summer collections of 2005. In the world of fashion, spring is always a tricky time; often too warm for your full winter coat that kept you so cosy in December, but hardly the time to start prancing around in a bikini top and flip flops.

We suggest that the introduction of key pieces of the spring and summer into your winter wardrobe at this time of the year will ensure that you're ahead of the fashion crowd but not so far ahead that you're a tiny wee hypothermic speck in the distance. One of our favourite trends for this year is the influence of the prom, which is great for those of us for whom graduation means only that we get to wear something great to the Final Fling. Tulle and ruffles in dresses and tops are very exciting news for all Cinderella wannabes. For everyday wear, there is a massive interest in accessories. With the Accesorize chain doing absolutely amazing bits and bobs, an accessory like a great pair of arm-length gloves is a cheap way to revitalise an outfit. Word off the street is that a combo of huge sunglasses and woolly hats is the way forward. As well as being extremely practical for the lengthy British winter, woolly hats also look great and cover a multitude of bad hair day problems. And with sunglasses, the bigger the better. They are a must for the blinding January rays. In light of the vintage influence at the moment, big jewellery is also in.

Accessorise with dangly earrings and big necklaces, Here are some of the key pieces for a fashionable 2005:

Coats: Cropped jackets are in for the spring: they can appear in sexy satin, a more casual woolly style or smart and tailored, all designed to take the chill off a cool winter's night without completely concealing your outfit. Also, bomber jackets are back, but they're not black. Go for a bright colour, the more glam the better!

Trousers: In keeping with a retro feel, go for cropped tracksuit trousers, or teem baggy trousers with high-heels to add a touch of glam for a night out.

Skirts: If you're after a more feminine style, look no further than floral skirts. In true vintage style, pretty and cute, they can be teemed with flats, heels or wedge sandals for a versatile springtime look.

Tops: Tops stay simple for this season as the focus seems to be on bright and colourful accessories. So, keep your top-half plain, vest-tops or sweaters are always reliable favourites.

The main thing to bear in mind for this season is the brighter the better, this goes for jackets, jewellery and skirts, so make yourself noticed! However, if you don't fancy looking like a reject from Christmas, this might be for you: A return to innocence in the form of white, white and more white, taking on feminine designs such as petticoat skirts and embroidered smock tops. White is a tricky colour to get right, more often than not it ends up looking cheap and nasty rather than elegant. Knee-length white boots can often make one look like an extra from The Jetsons rather than Liz Hurley. Keeping white bright is highly important, so ensure that you can be bothered and can afford, to keep up with the dry cleaning.
